The Vesuvio has not been produced for a long time The Vesuvio Coffee Maker is based on the traditional Italian "Napolitana" style coffee maker and, of course, Mount Vesuvius in Naples. In a New York Times article by Susanne Slesin in 1993, she notes, Mr. Pesce disdains all coffee makers designed and manufactured since the Bauhaus. "Too abstract and formal," he said "I wanted an object that talked more to me about reality."
