Italian postmodern vanity mirror in taupe lacquered wood, tilting, 1980s

A sculptural table mirror that captures the confident, architectural spirit of Italian design in the 1980s. Rendered entirely in a soft taupe-grey lacquer over wood, the piece is built from a series of bold, rounded geometric forms: a thick circular frame cradling the mirror plate, pivoting on two chunky brass pivot pins set into vertical uprights, and resting on a broad, gently curved trestle base with a scrolled foot detail reminiscent of postmodern furniture from the period.

The mirror tilts freely within its frame, allowing the angle to be adjusted for use on a vanity, dressing table, or console. The satin lacquer finish is uniform throughout, giving the object a calm, monochromatic presence that reads equally well as a functional mirror or as a piece of tabletop sculpture in its own right — the kind of quietly architectural object associated with Italian design studios working at the intersection of furniture and industrial design in the 1980s.

Good vintage condition consistent with age; the mirror glass is clean and bright, with only the light, expected imperfections of a decades-old plate. A wonderful statement piece for a bedroom, bathroom, or entryway console.
