This large-scale minimalist relief exemplifies the artist’s exploration of geometry, rhythm, and light reflection, turning industrial material into a poetic spatial experience.

Messina’s precise alignment of horizontal bands and subtle variations in depth create a dynamic interplay between light and shadow, making the surface appear to shift as the viewer moves. The result is a work that feels both architectural and meditative — an elegant statement piece for a refined modern interior.

Executed with exceptional craftsmanship, this sculpture reflects the 1970s fascination with material innovation and spatial abstraction, reminiscent of the Italian Arte Programmata and Constructivist movements.

Artist:

Salvatore Messina (born 1935) is an Italian sculptor and designer known for his minimalist and constructivist approach to form. Working primarily in metal, Messina has exhibited throughout Italy and Europe since the 1960s. His works often explore the dialogue between structure, rhythm, and perception, transforming industrial materials into contemplative visual experiences.

Messina’s practice bridges the gap between fine art and design, and his work is included in numerous private and public collections. He is regarded as part of the generation of Italian artists who redefined sculpture through precision, abstraction, and material honesty.

Period: 1970s

Materials: Brushed Aluminium

Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and material.

The sculpture will be shipped insured in a custom made wooden crate.
