Postmodern Italian illuminated bookcase with Travertine base, Walnut shelves and chrome steel uplighters

Postmodern Italian masterpiece: A fusion of art and functionality

Elevate your interior with this stunning postmodern Italian bookcase, a true statement piece that blends timeless design with superior craftsmanship.

This striking Italian Postmodern illuminated bookcase brings sculptural presence and architectural drama to any interior. Four gracefully curved Walnut shelves float between polished stainless steel columns, resting on a solid travertine base with softly rounded corners. At the top of each column, a conical frosted Opal polycarbonate shade works as an integrated uplighter and casts a warm, ambient glow across the ceiling and walls.

The mix of natural travertine, warm wood and mirror-polished steel is typical of Italian design of the 1980s, when designers combined noble materials with bold, geometric forms. The organic shelves soften the cool steel and give the piece a playful, almost surreal elegance.

Standing freely, it also works as a room divider. With its open structure and slim depth, it separates a living and dining area, a study corner or an entrance hall without blocking light or sightlines, and the built-in lighting adds atmosphere to both sides of the room. It is equally suited to books, ceramics, art objects and glass, and it is a statement piece for collectors of Italian Postmodern design, interior designers and lovers of the Memphis era.
