About the Designer – Tito Agnoli (1931–2012)

Tito Agnoli was a highly respected Italian designer known for his understated yet innovative approach to furniture design. Trained as an architect in Milan, Agnoli collaborated with many of Italy’s leading manufacturers, including Cassina, Poltrona Frau, Arflex, Cinova, and Matteo Grassi. His work is characterized by clarity of form, ergonomic intelligence, and a deep understanding of materials—particularly leather. Agnoli’s designs remain sought after for their timeless modernity and quiet sophistication.

About the Manufacturer – Matteo Grassi

Founded in Brianza, Italy, Matteo Grassi became internationally renowned for its mastery of luxury leather furniture. The company was at the forefront of innovative leather-processing techniques, producing pieces that combined industrial precision with artisanal quality. During the 1970s and 1980s, Matteo Grassi collaborated with leading designers to create iconic seating that remains highly collectible today, especially models such as Korium, known for their durability, comfort, and refined aesthetics.

The chairs will be shipped insured overseas in custom made wooden crates.

Tito Agnoli was born into an Italian family, in Lima, Peru, in 1931. He came to Italy after the war. Trained as a painter (having studied with Sironi), in 1949 he enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture, where he graduated in 1959 and was assistant to Gio Ponti and to Carlo De Carli. However, even in the early Fifties, he was already carrying out an intense professional activity in the field of design. He has created projects for, among others, Arflex, Cinova, Lema, Matteo Grassi, Molteni, Montina, Oluce, Pierantonio Bonacina, Poltrona Frau, Schiffini, Ycami. Several times recommended for the Compasso d’Oro (Golden Compass) Award, in 1986 he won the gold medal at the Neocon in Chicago. Some of his pieces are kept in the permanent collection of the MoMa in New York. He died in Milan on February 2012.
