Rendered in Nishijima Katsuyuki’s distinctive modern-sōsaku hanga style, the composition balances graphic clarity with atmospheric warmth, using layered tones of amber, ochre, and charcoal to evoke the fading light of evening.

The print depicts tiled rooftops silhouetted against a richly patterned sky, where stylized clouds drift across a glowing horizon. Nishijima’s masterful use of color and line transforms an everyday architectural view into a contemplative scene, reflecting both Japan’s architectural heritage and the artist’s modern sensibility.

This example is signed and titled in pencil by the artist, a detail highly valued by collectors of post-war Japanese prints.
