H 70 cm x D 30 cm (27.56 in x 11.81 in)

A striking and rare mid-century modern table lamp by renowned Dutch ceramicist Pieter Groeneveldt, featuring a subtly textured, deep purple ceramic base with beautifully nuanced glazing. The cylindrical body is hand-thrown and finished in Groeneveldt’s signature lava-like glaze, which exudes understated elegance and depth. It is paired with a custom-made pleated silk lampshade in a rich aubergine hue, providing a harmonious contrast and a warm, ambient glow when lit.

Excellent vintage condition. The ceramic base is free from cracks or chips. The shade is newly crafted to complement the lamp’s form and color palette.

Pieter Groeneveldt (1889–1982) was one of the most influential Dutch ceramic artists of the 20th century. After studying in Germany and China, he established his own studio in Voorschoten in the 1920s, where he developed a distinct style rooted in both Eastern and Western ceramic traditions. His works are characterized by their refined shapes, innovative glazes, and architectural simplicity. Today, Groeneveldt’s pieces are highly sought after by collectors of modernist ceramics and are held in major museum collections, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.

This lamp embodies Groeneveldt’s timeless aesthetic and makes a bold yet elegant statement in any interior—from refined modernist to eclectic contemporary.
