Number 217 of only 999 worldwide, this oversized Hell Boy is a landmark crossover between American comics and Hong Kong designer vinyl. Eric So reimagined Mike Mignola's creation with a stretched, stylised anatomy: a heavy, barrel-chested torso, spindly legs and the oversized Right Hand of Doom. It comes with a certificate signed by Eric So and Mike Mignola, the trench coat and utility belt with holster. and gun.
The figure is in near mint condition. For 22 years it has been kept in its original box, in smoke-free storage and out of sunlight, so the textured red vinyl and the cream coat are fresh. It comes with its numbered certificate of authenticity, signed by both Eric So and Mike Mignola.
The original box shows visible wear, including scuffs, tape residue and edge wear, as the photographs show. This is common for a box of this age and size, and it is documented so you know exactly what to expect.
Released in 2004, the year of the first Guillermo del Toro film, it was one of the most sought-after Hellboy collectibles of its time. About Mike Mignola (b. 1960) Mignola is an American comic artist from Berkeley, California. He created Hellboy for Dark Horse Comics in the early 1990s. His heavy blacks, angular shapes and folklore-driven horror are instantly recognisable. He has won multiple Eisner Awards, and Hellboy grew into a long-running comic universe, animated films and live-action films.
About Eric So Eric So is a Hong Kong designer and one of the leading names in Hong Kong-style vinyl figures, which are known for exaggerated anatomy, fine craftsmanship and very small production runs. His earlier figures were all his own original characters. Hell Boy was a rare collaboration with an existing character, produced in an edition of 999 and distributed by Dark Horse.
