Joe Colombo mid-century modern navy blue Coupe arc floor lamp, model 3320R by O-Luce, Italy
Joe ColomboItalian Space age arched floor lamp "Coupé" 3320R by Joe Colombo for O-Luce, navy lacquered metal and chrome
A sculptural icon of Italian Space Age design: the Coupé floor lamp, model 3320R, by Joe Colombo for O-Luce. A slim chrome arc sweeps up and over in one fluid gesture. It ends in a glossy navy dome that floats above the room and casts a soft pool of warm light. The stem and the weighted round base are in a deep navy lacquer, which gives the lamp a rare, rich look in a design that is more often seen in white, black or red.
The generous reach of the arc makes the Coupé a natural partner for a sofa, a lounge chair or a dining table. It gives the light where you need it without a ceiling fixture, and the stem is adjustable in height. It reads as a graphic line in space, as functional as it is elegant, and it brings the optimism of 1960s Italian design to a contemporary interior.
Joe Colombo's work is held in museum collections worldwide, and O-Luce pieces from this era are increasingly sought after by collectors. An exceptional, statement-making lamp for a modern, mid-century or eclectic interior.

About Joe Colombo (1930–1971)
Cesare "Joe" Colombo was born in Milan and trained as a painter and sculptor. He was associated with the Movimento Nucleare, and he turned to design in the early 1960s. He worked with an unusual, forward-looking vision of the home as a flexible, total environment. He combined new materials, especially plastics, with compact, multi-functional forms. His best-known designs include the Elda armchair, the Tube Chair, the Universale chair, the Boby trolley and the Total Furnishing Unit. He also designed several lamps for O-Luce, among them the Acrilica, Spider and Coupé. He died suddenly at only 41. In a career of less than ten years he became one of the most influential Italian designers of the postwar era.
