The design features a slender black steel rod rising gracefully from a weighted metal base, topped by a small halogen light source counterbalanced by a frosted glass sphere. The light appears to float in space, creating a magical interplay between light, shadow, and tension.

This lamp is part of Ingo Maurer’s most celebrated early works and exemplifies his sculptural and conceptual approach to lighting design. Highly sought-after by collectors and included in several museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

Details:

Designer: Ingo Maurer & Franz Ringelhan Model: Ilios

Manufacturer: Design M

Year: 1983 Country: Germany

Height: 190 cm

Materials: Steel, glass, and metal base

Light source: Halogen bulb (G4)

Condition: Excellent vintage condition – minimal signs of age, fully functional

A timeless example of German avant-garde lighting design — elegant, rare, and instantly recognizable.

Wear consistent with age and use.

Colors may slightly vary due to photographic lighting sources or your monitor settings.

We ship worldwide.
