The Ilios floor lamp (1983) is a poetic exploration of balance, lightness, and minimalism — a hallmark of Maurer’s visionary approach to lighting. The design features a slender black steel rod rising gracefully from a weighted metal base, topped by a small halogen light source counterbalanced by a frosted glass sphere. The light appears to float in space, creating a magical interplay between light, shadow, and tension.
