This GE-265 lounge chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by Getama in Denmark in the 1960s. It is a fine example of Danish Modern design, with a solid oak frame, sculpted armrests and a clean, open silhouette. The loose seat and back cushions are upholstered in a dark brown wool-blend fabric, and the original Getama label is still attached under the seat rail. The sprung seat construction makes it as comfortable as it is elegant, and the compact proportions suit living rooms, reading corners, offices and hotel or lounge interiors.

Wegner's GE-265 is a timeless Scandinavian design that pairs well with mid-century, modern and contemporary interiors. The oak has a warm patina from age.

About the designer: Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007)

Hans Jørgensen Wegner, born in Tønder, Denmark, trained as a cabinetmaker before studying at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. He is regarded as one of the greatest furniture designers of the 20th century and is known as the "Master of the Chair". Over his career he designed more than 500 chairs, including the Wishbone Chair (CH24), The Chair (JH503) and the Peacock Chair. His work combines craftsmanship, natural materials and sculptural simplicity, and it is held in museum collections worldwide, including MoMA in New York.

About Getama
Getama (Gedsted Møbelfabrik) was founded in Denmark in 1946. From the 1950s it produced some of Wegner's best-known designs, including the GE-240 and GE-290, in solid oak and teak with exceptional build quality.
