Mid-Century Modern Life Size Brass and Copper Statue of African Beauty

Beautiful, elegant and stylish. Bronze with black and golden patina, gilded brass. African Mid-Century Modern life size beauty. Made after the African neck stretching tribe known as "Long Neck tribe". This originated from the Ndebele tribe group.. The women wore brass and copper rings, iindzila, around their necks after they got married around the age of 12. Once the young women were married, these neck rings were placed individually to provide intense spiritual power and to show the tribal wealth. It also became one of the ways that bonding between married couples was displayed and the rings could only be removed upon her husbands death.
