Geoffrey HarcourtMid-century modern lounge chair by Geoffrey Harcourt for Artifort, the Netherlands, early 1960s – reupholstered in recycled wool, stainless steel base (pair available)
An exceptional Mid-Century Modern lounge chair designed in the early 1960s by renowned British designer Geoffrey Harcourt for the prestigious Dutch manufacturer Artifort. This iconic piece exemplifies Harcourt’s signature approach—low, architectural seating with a strong emphasis on comfort, proportion, and modern elegance.
The chair has been professionally restored, webbing has been replaced and newly reupholstered in a premium, durable fabric composed of 75% recycled wool and 25% polyamide (PA). The textile offers a rich texture and subtle visual depth while meeting contemporary sustainability standards. Martindale 100.000.
The original brushed stainless steel frame—often mistaken for chrome—remains in excellent condition and beautifully complements the upholstered volume. Its clean, sled-style construction enhances the chair’s floating, minimalist appearance and underlines the high-quality craftsmanship associated with early Artifort production.
With its deep seat, wide stance, and supportive armrests, this chair offers outstanding comfort, making it ideal for both sophisticated residential interiors and design-forward commercial spaces.
Two chairs are available, offering the rare opportunity to acquire a matching pair of early production examples.
