Sottsass (1917–2007), one of the most influential designers of the 20th century, is best known as the founder of the Memphis Group. His work consistently challenged conventions of industrial design, blending modernist rigor with expressive, often playful geometries. The Hollywood Collection, produced in collaboration with the historic Florentine ceramics manufacturer Bitossi, distills his postmodern sensibility into a series of striking ceramic forms.
Bitossi Ceramiche, founded in 1921 in Montelupo Fiorentino near Florence, has long been synonymous with innovation in Italian ceramics. Their collaborations with masters such as Sottsass have become design icons, sought after by collectors worldwide for their bold experimentation and timeless appeal.
This rare example from the Hollywood Collection showcases the perfect synthesis of Sottsass’s radical vision and Bitossi’s artisanal tradition—an essential piece for collectors of Italian design and postmodern art.
