Brown Synthesis desk chair designed in 1973 by Ettore Sottsass for Olivetti, Italy.
Ettore Sottsass (1917–2007) was an Italian architect and designer during the 20th century. His body of work includes furniture, jewelry, glass, lighting and objects, as well as many buildings and interiors. He is perhaps most celebrated as the founder of the Memphis Group, famous for its colorful and flamboyant furniture, ceramics and lighting pieces, brought to attention recently with the much anticipated auction of David Bowie’s private Memphis collection. This desk chair for Olivetti is made from ABS plastic beautifully colored in an chocolate brown. The chair is featured in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Good vintage condition. Some scuffing and scratches to plastic.
Seat height mechanism good. Seat height is adjustable from 40cm to 51cm.
The chair will be shipped overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of transport to the US crate included is Euro 450.
